Virtual Parties
Social connection is one of the most important things you can do to keep the blues away and stay emotionally healthy.
Luckily, there are lots of ways to enjoy an engaging time with friends even when you can’t get together in person. Here are some favorite ideas from Open House Mystery Parties’ family to yours.
Stream a Puzzle Adventure Video Game
Choose your favorite point-and-click adventure, turn on screen sharing, and let the puzzling fun begin!
Big Fish Games has several fun puzzle adventures you can play. We can also recommend The Room and Cube Escape/Rusty Lake games on Steam.
Game with Friends in a Discord Video Channel
Discord allows you to create an online space private to only those you invite. They’ve always given you the ability to have a group conversation in a voice channel, but now they’ve added video, so you can see one another’s faces while talking, too.
There are lots of games that work great over video chat. Just One, Qwingo, Cartographers, and medium are a few of our favorites.
Play Board Games Over Tabletop Simulator
This option is for the tabletop game lovers in your life. It requires a bit of technical know-how and patience to get started, but, once everyone is trained up, it’s the closet you can get to feeling like you are sitting around a game table any time you can’t get together in person.
Chatting in a Discord voice channel is the most reliable way we’ve found to keep communication with friends consistently connected as you set up and move between games. This is especially important if you want to get together with a larger group broken out into different games through one event.
